Past or Future?
Welcome yourself to Gezza’s great debate of the night. Take a seat, won’t you? Honestly, when you look at the title of this post, I’d expect the average person to easily pick one of those words (no, not or you silly person) and say clearly which one was the most important. But I’m not sure sure which one is anymore.
- Past
Ew, it’s been and gone, who cares, right? But the way I see it, the past shapes who we are. How would you be acting right now if you hadn’t experienced certain events or learnt certain things in your past? The past is something for us to look back to and draw things out of, and improve ourselves about reflection. However, our past consists of memories which can make us smile and laugh, but also cry tears of anguish. And most likely, it’s the latter, as bad memories tend to stick with us.
- Future
The future gives us something to aspire and look up to, and it keeps us going when we’re feeling down. The question is, how do we make ourselves a good future? Our future is dependant on our past experiences, for example our future jobs require certain university degrees we gained a few years ago. The future brings surprises and the unknown, both good and bad, thus presenting us with success or failure.
- Decision time
We can let both the past or the future consume us, and each is equally as formidable. However, I’m going to go with future on this one. The future will inevitably become the past just as tomorrow will soon become yesterday, and even if you think the future will add to your own formidable past, you’ve got to give yourself something to live for. If we don’t give ourselves a future, doesn’t it mean our past experiences amount to nothing?

Science: Progress
I don’t believe in god. Ooh, I said it. I’m a believer in science, it seems to make sense to me. A more logical, less fantastical version of events as to how we got here. It gives evidence which can be scrutinised, and doesn’t involve blind faith. But I think science is starting to explain… well… everything.
As a human, I like to think of my race as individual and complex. But when we apply this concept to science, are we truly individual and complex? No. Every action we do is influenced by chemicals in our brains and hormones. Free will is actually nonexistent. And that’s a frightening thought for me. How we have strived for independence when we’re not even free from the control of our own minds. Love is something that has captivated the world in literature and in film. Each story is different, with the sheer velocity by which individuals are pulled together. I remember once when I was little I asked my mother about animals. I think I was seven. I asked her why they reproduced in public, in front of everyone. Didn’t they get embarrassed? My mother replied that they were animals who didn’t think like humans, there was no emotion behind what they did, they did it because they needed to, it was just instinct. But now I see through all this research humans are just the same. We are compelled to the other sex because of hormones. And looking back on how I’ve loved members of the opposite sex in the past, I am blatantly disgusted with myself.
What about bigger questions then. Do humans have a soul? Or are just solely chemicals that decompose when we die. One person I knew said that he was scared that if there was nothing after death, then what did we have to live for? Honestly, even if there is nothing at the end of this, I still want to accomplish something, to prove my worth to myself. This stuff bothers me, not because we can deduce our life ends in a black hole, but because what if we start to observe ourselves as those reactions you studied in science class in beakers? Humans have to retain some pride, and I suppose I’m being a stuck up little human myself in suggesting that. (What a little devil I am then

Why Do People Drink.
Why do people drink alcohol when they know it’s not doing anything for them but creating a perpetual short-lived symphony of happiness in their lives which are miserable outside a bottle. And why do they drink when they know they’ll wake up feeling awful. And why do they drink if they could change their life in some other way. And why do they drink if they kill their little baby girls off slowly every time they get drunk and hurt them. And why do people drink if they want to have a family. And why do people drink just because their ‘mates’ decide it’s cool to do so.
And why do they still drink, knowing all this.
It’s not cool and it ruins lives.
Lately, I’ve been going on this desperate little mission to try and stop people I know who drink, and those who shouldn’t be drinking at all because they’re underage. So I tell them what my alcoholic father did to me. And nobody seems to listen. Every single human has the capability to turn into a purely sick and twisted monster through alcohol. Just put them under the right conditions. But everybody waves me off and says they’ll be fine. Every time somebody drinks they do damage. I’m so glad I’m such a good actor, so nobody can see how much I feel like crying every single time they boast about how they puked when they had a whole bottle of vodka.
How is it cool to do this? How is it fun?
I’m really at a loss for words here.
And then, when I say I don’t drink and never will, I’m the one who gets called stupid.

Sigh.
Times I’ve had a crush: 6
Times I’ve had a boyfriend: 4
Times I’ve thought I’ve found true love: 10
Times I have actually found true love: 0
Life is short and I’m young and to be honest sometimes I just wonder if I should make something out of that guy I met and loose my virginity then and there just for the sake of being loved by something.
But then I’d be being used at the same time. And that’s all anyone seems to be doing to me at the moment, using me. I like helping, I just wish I got recognition for it.

Twitter Is For Losers
Twitter is really starting to piss me off, to put it succinctly. Honestly, I guess it’s just that you can’t really be taken seriously if you write on sentence about a subject, no matter how important it is. There is no background, no thoughts or reflection on the topic. It’s quite an offense to blogging. Have we as the human race lost that much patience? Can we seriously post a sentence, often lacking incorrect grammar and punctuation, and reflect on it? I think that’s why I like blogging. Crawling through my old posts on late nights and laughing at myself.
One thing we also have to ask ourselves is do we really care? Twitter, on one hand useful for stalking celebrities, has become a hell hole of internet trash. People update their twitters when they’re going to the toilet, even on the toilet, including the intimate details of their…. business. People can’t even seem to manage to utilize the 140 characters that Twitter does allow them to use.
How is twitter a proper writing tool? It’s like a children’s story book, filled with nonsense that perhaps a five year old would enjoy. With blogging, for example, you can rant on for as long as your heart desires about how you broke up or divorced with your partner. Blogging creates empathy and emotion. Twitter? “OMG. Broke up with bf.
“ How does anyone reply to that? Twitter just comes off as downright shallow. Did your relationship really mean so much to you that you could sum it up in 140 characters?
Yes, this post has been quite stress relieving. What would the Twitter version of this post be I wonder… “Lyk omg. Twitter sux guys. Wtf.”

Thoughts From A Broken Mind.
Chase the light too far and you will walk into the shadows
Happy endings result in someone’s demise
Destiny and fate are inventions of mankind, fiction
Nobody can truly make you do anything.
Symmetry is a falsehood; two parts can never be equal
There is a difference between want and need, learn it
Your reasons never have to be logical, just coherent
We are not defined by our personalities, but experience.
It’s not bad luck, you had it coming
Life is not made to be poetic
There is always somebody who loves you
Although a helping hand is useful, you can get off the ground yourself.
Some things are unexplainable
Nobody is exempt from humanity’s vices, everyone has sinned
Separation will never make the heart grow fonder
There are no guilty pleasures, only guilt or pleasure.
You can never start over, only learn
The thoughts running through your head won’t stop and don’t try to make them do so
You don’t suddenly gain wisdom, you learn it as you go along
You’re not supposed to understand, but try.

Now, read and reflect.
